Complete Patio and Path Excavation

This is a perfect example of where bamboo is supposedly planted in what was believed to be a secure surround, however as it extremely common certainly not the case. The expansion resulting in the whole surrounding area needing excavation, including the slab patio area, the steps under the garden gate and the shared side footpath path the entire length of the garage.

We have a saying, “it is always worse than you can see” this being a prime example.

The rhizome from this bamboo covered the entire width of the garden.

On the left hand side running down a very narrow void between the garage and the neighbouring property, it is highly likely that within one year encroachment into the neighbouring garden would have occurred.

On the right hand side where the rhizome had grown under the retaining wall and into the flower bed and had spread approximately four metres towards the property, the rhizome was starting to grown under the boundary wall, should this have left to continue the resulting growth would have risen under and around the neighbouring properties rear access path.
Once encroachment takes place the potential problems of bamboo really start. Whilst you may accept damage from the bamboo in your own garden, it is likely that your neighbours will have a very different opinion.

After excavation the area being returned to a likely better condition than before our works.

In conversation with our clients after the work, they informed us of their likely intention the sell the property in the near future, this was a influencing factor in the bamboo removal.
This was a very wise move as bamboo growing like this is extremely likely to have resulted in being flagged up during a property sale by either a potential buyer or on a home survey, this likely leading to complications through the sale process or offers being forwarded taking into consideration costs for the removal.
