Bamboo Guarantees in our opinion are absolutely vital, you need certainty that you will be free of bamboo in the future.

It should be made very clear that due to the nature of bamboo like many other invasive species it is possible or even likely that there will be an element of regrowth after the initial works.
This is where a Bamboo Guarantee comes into play.
A contractor should stand by their work and eliminate any new growth, it is simply part of the process, this is should be included in the overall cost.

Length of Guarantee.
The length of guarantee can sometimes be used in a rather misleading way.
It is common for companies to offer five year guarantees, and this is what we do here at No More Bamboo, however this five year period in all honesty is overkill, we will explain more later.

There are companies who offer ten year guarantees, we have even seen twenty five year periods, however these sometimes come with additional costs, simply a way to charge you more!
Ultimately you would be paying extra for something that should be done, ie eradicate the bamboo.

If the bamboo has been killed off fully, there is no way it can simply regrow in the future.
Things suddenly become clearer, are long guarantee periods really needed or just a sales gimick, we know what we think!

Five Year Guarantees.
Now back to the recommended Five Year Guarantee, it is sensible and vital to have a guarantee that covers a suitable time period to ensure that the bamboo has been fully eradicated.
In reality and through our experience, it is extremely unlikely and only in very or extreme cases that there would be any regrowth after a two year time period, so the Five Year Guarantee is covering this by two and a half times!

Our rule of thumb is that bamboo would be eradicated within approximately eighteen months, this time frame allows for variables due to the time of year when the start of the works take place.
If there was a situation that eradication was going to for what ever reason take an extended length of time, the client would be made very aware of this in the Bamboo Management Plan.

Insurance Backed Guarantees (IBG)
An insurance backed guarantee is a product that effectively insures against the contractor going out of business during the guarantee period and covering any follow up works that are needed, sometimes these are chargeable.

Insurance Backed Guarantees can be required by mortgage providers when properties are purchsed that are impactyed by bamboo.
