This Teign Valley bamboo had been maturing over many years, gradually expanding, each year culms getting taller and larger in diameter.

However, recently the expansion was getting worse, spreading further and faster. Culms were now rising throughout the surrounding shrubs and in front of the windows. It was time that this bamboo needed removal.

Bamboo culms and foliage debris had completely block the rain water drain. Rhizomes were completely surrounding the main sewer pipe exiting the building, this represented a real risk of future damage.

Possibly the greatest issue found were rhizomes spreading out over the path. These had reached the edge of the hedge.

It would have been extremely likely if these had been left for one more season that culms would have started rising inside the hedge, if this had happened removal would have been far more complex, and increase in costs.
